Begin with the essentials
Trezor.io/Start® is designed to guide you from unboxing to confident ownership. Your Trezor® keeps private keys offline — Trezor Suite is the verified management interface. Read the steps fully and keep your recovery seed offline at all times.
Unbox and inspect
Check packaging seals and the device for tamper evidence. If something looks modified, contact official support before use.
Plan secure seed storage
Prepare an offline medium (paper, steel plate) to record the 12/24-word recovery seed. Never photograph or store it digitally.
1. Initialize your Trezor®
Power the device and follow on-screen prompts to create a new wallet or restore an existing one. Choose a PIN that is memorable to you but difficult to guess. Confirm all inputs on the device screen.
Never type your recovery seed into a computer or phone — record it offline only.
2. Record and secure the recovery seed
The device will show a 12 or 24-word recovery seed during setup. Write the words down in order and store them securely in at least one offline location.
If you suspect exposure, move funds to a new seed immediately.
3. PIN and optional passphrase
The PIN protects the device from casual access. An optional passphrase creates a hidden wallet — powerful but requires careful backup if you use it.
Enter the PIN and passphrase only on the device, never on third-party screens.
4. Connect to Trezor Suite
Open Trezor Suite, connect via USB, and follow onboarding to add accounts. Suite displays transaction data — always verify amounts and addresses on-device before approval.
Suite also guides firmware updates and integrations.
5. Firmware & updates
Apply firmware updates only via official channels. Suite will verify update signatures; do not install firmware from unverified sources.
Updates contain important security fixes and compatibility improvements.
6. Integrations & third-party apps
Trezor supports integrations with trusted apps such as MetaMask and Electrum. Authorize actions on the physical device so keys remain offline and private.
Prefer well-known integrations and confirm URLs and manifests before connecting.
7. Troubleshooting & support
If the device is not recognized, try a different USB cable, another port, or restart Suite. For official help, consult trezor.io/support.
If prompted for your recovery seed, disconnect and contact official support immediately.
Final advice — safety & ownership
